On June 21, São Paulo will be hosting the second-ever Trans Pride March in the country, this year with some corporate sponsors, the Brazilian Beauty Products Company ‘quem disse, berenice?’ and Uber.

In a country with some of the most alarming rates of violence against trans people worldwide, the needs of this community are often invisible within public discourse regarding LGBTQ equality. Reflective of that, during the recent Strategy Session that Out & Equal hosted in São Paulo, trans inclusion surfaced as one of company’s top challenges in today’s workplace. Therefore, the Trans March comes at an important time as the desire and need for increased visibility and awareness is on the rise.

Founder of [SSEX BBOX] and organizer of the event, Pri Bertucci, notes that the March is “organized by trans people, for trans people and allies, with the aim of bringing together representative voices of transgender, transsexual, transvestite and nonbinary people [to bring about] a more fair and equal visibility of the demands of these groups.”

Out & Equal looks forward to continuing to work closely with our partners in Brazil and push for full trans workplace inclusion. If your company operates in Brazil, we encourage you to share this event with your colleagues to attend and show their solidarity and support! You can see pictures of last year’s event here.
