Pronouns: She, Her, Hers
Isabel joined the Out & Equal staff in February 2016 as Associate Director of Research. She holds a B.A. in Latin American Studies from Smith College and is a PhD Candidate in Cultural Studies at the University of California, Davis. Isabel’s deep commitment to LGBT equality and intersectional feminism inform both her research and teaching. Her dissertation research has received national fellowship support from the American Association for University Women (AAUW) as well as the Mellon Mays Foundation. As an Instructor of Women’s and Gender Studies at UC Davis, Isabel taught various courses, including Introduction to Queer Theory, Introduction to Feminist Theory, and Theory and History of Sexualities. Isabel is an experienced public speaker and has presented scholarly work at academic conferences in Colombia, Brazil and across the United States. She is very excited to expand Out & Equal’s research efforts! Born in NY but raised in Miami, Isabel has called Northern California home for nine years. In her spare time, Isabel obsesses over basset hounds, yearns for a good Cuban coffee, and tries to read as much pop cultural criticism as possible.
