For more than 20 years, Out & Equal’s Outie Awards program has recognized the boldest champions of LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion, celebrating those working to advance belonging for all. Through the years, more than 100 individuals, organizational practices and ERGs across a range of categories have been honored as role models for outstanding inclusive leadership efforts in their organizations and beyond.
The Outie Awards take place at the annual Out & Equal Workplace Summit, showcasing award-winners’ as LGBTQ+ inclusion champions and providing employer-of-choice visibility for winning organizations. Winners are selected by a committee of Out & Equal leaders and external subject matter experts, who review nominations against rigorous, globally informed criteria.

Created to provide a dedicated space for Operations professionals, OUT complements the Firmwide Pride & Ally Network while focusing on tailored professional development and community support for its 7,500 global teammates. In just its first year, OUT has created visible impact through mentorship, allyship, and global forums that amplify the voices of the LGBTQ+ community and allies, while deepening cross-regional connections.
Among its signature accomplishments, OUT has launched a biannual mentorship program, pioneered a reverse mentorship program with senior leaders, and facilitated workshops to foster dialogue on gender inclusion. OUT has also hosted high impact Meet OUT and Reach OUT sessions, engaging over 700 participants globally, and delivered programming to drive greater inclusion and allyship on International Transgender Day of Visibility, World AIDS Day, and Lesbian Day of Visibility. Launched in April 2022, the LGBTQ+ Teammate Resource Group at Brown & Brown has quickly become a vital force for equity, inclusion, and belonging. With a mission to create a safe space that inspires and supports LGBTQ+ teammates and their allies, the TRG has helped transform workplace culture while building a strong sense of community and “chosen family.”
In just three years, the TRG has delivered significant impact: advocating for expanded family-forming benefits, introducing a companywide LGBTQ+ Awareness Calendar, and hosting heritage month celebrations that spotlight Pride and LGBTQ+ History Month. It has led education efforts through monthly sessions on topics such as pronouns, bisexual health awareness, and allyship for BIPOC LGBTQ+ youth. Visible executive engagement, along with a collaborative leadership model, has also driven meaningful organizational changes.

Recognizing the emotional toll of forced outings and legal uncertainty, Becca also trained over 80 Mental Health First Aiders across five sites to provide trauma-informed support, ensuring employees had access to both safety and advocacy during crises.
Becca’s leadership is deeply intersectional, fostering collaboration across ERGs, such as ASCEND, EnABLE, PULSE, and HUMANOS.
