Happy Pride Month! Pride is a time to celebrate LGBTQ+ people and how far we’ve come, but we can’t afford to ignore the urgency that has emerged in our community. The LGBTQ+ community is under relentless political and cultural attacks. And many of these vicious attacks target the most vulnerable in our community, transgender youth. State legislatures have already introduced 238 anti-LGBTQ+ bills this year seeking to silence discussion about and erase LGBTQ+ people. This number will only grow.
This year’s Workplace Summit theme is Unstoppable. Even in the face of resistance, the work Out & Equal does is Unstoppable.
How are we Unstoppable?
Our community is Unstoppable. The LGBTQ+ community has progressed at a faster pace when compared to other civil and human rights movements. Government restrictions, political attacks, and cultures of homophobia and transphobia have never stopped us before. Our community’s progress doesn’t stop.
Our work is Unstoppable. The Out & Equal community is a global force of tens of thousands strong from every part of the world. Our work doesn’t stop at any border. As champions of corporate leadership, our role is to make sure that our workplaces continue the work towards inclusion. Workplaces can’t afford to backtrack on the progress they’ve made and the progress they’ll make in the future.
Together, we are Unstoppable. Our community values intersectionality, recognizing that we all contain multiple identities. We stand proudly with movements fighting for equality – Black Lives Matter, reproductive freedom, the fight to stop AAPI hate, disability inclusion, and more.
Unstoppable. One word. One theme. Infinite impact.
