“Together, we have broken the mold here in Brazil for how business leaders become champions for LGBTQ equality – at work and in the public square. When we built out the list of public signatories in the last election cycle, we fundamentally changed how our rights and dignity were talked about. Dozens of businesses on-record and publicly declaring their call for equality, no matter who is in office. Think about that for a moment – anyone claiming to be pro-business, but anti-LGBTQ was stopped in their tracks.” – Erin Uritus, CEO, Out & Equal

In its 4th year as the premier LGBTQI+ workplace inclusion conference in Brazil, the 2020 Out & Equal Brazil Forum brought together hundreds of LGBTQI+ and ally professionals from Brazilian and multinational companies on December 2nd-3rd in partnership with our Brazilian planning committee. The forum featured special guests from HBO Latin America’s trailblazing Brazilian show, Todxs Nós, along with, senior professionals, D&I professionals, ERG leaders, and global LGBTQI+ advocates.

“Brazil Forum 2020 is the direct result of the transformation that businesses in Brazil have worked towards, despite the challenges of a global pandemic. We are here, together, virtually, continuously working to create workplaces where everyone is able to belong and flourish.” – CV Viverito, Associate Director, Global Initiatives

The two-day forum focused on the most relevant and emerging topics in Brazilian LGBTQI+ workplace inclusion including transgender and nonbinary inclusion, intersectional inclusion models, creating cultures of belonging and respect, and use of inclusive language. The forum gave attendees tangible action items with the necessary tools to implement in their workplaces.

Every year, Out & Equal recognizes businesses, individuals and ERGs that exemplify LGBTQI+ leadership  through our Brazil Forum Excellence Awards. Congratulations to these incredible change-makers!

Looking ahead to 2021, Out & Equal will continue to work with our partners in Brazil to build resources, thought leadership, and plan next year’s forum. We are already looking forward to the 2021 Brazil Forum! Obrigade!
