WASHINGTON, DC — Today, HUD is rolling out new guidelines that will offer new meaningful protections against housing discrimination for LGBTQ Americans.

Today, the Biden Administration announced it will enforce the Fair Housing Act in cases of discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. This is meaningful action just three weeks after President Biden issued an executive order directing all federal agencies to implement the Bostock decision,” said Erin Uritus, CEO of Out & Equal Workplace Advocates.

“Unfortunately, housing discrimination is the lived reality for many LGBTQ people in our country – and this is especially true for the transgender community. Housing is basic human right. Thankfully, President Biden is bringing the full force of the federal government to bear so that no LGBTQ American will be denied a roof over their head just because of who they are or who they love.”
