In its 4th year as the premier LGBTQI+ workplace inclusion conference in China, the 2021 Out & Equal China Forum – in partnership with our China Business Inclusion Council and D&I Consulting – brought together LGBTQI+ and ally professionals from national and multinational companies in the APAC region.
As we continue to navigate a virtual workforce, Out & Equal has transformed the annual conference into quarterly virtual engagements and publications, with each quarter following a particular theme. This quarter’s forum focused on transgender and nonbinary inclusion in the workplace and how companies in the APAC region can continue to create cultures of inclusion and belonging.
The forum began with opening remarks and an inspiring Fireside Chat with Out & Equalโs CV Viverito and Moxie Peng – a queer and nonbinary writer and director from Hunan, China. Moxie shared their journey to belonging and talked about how they create art that tells stories along the intersections of LGBTQI+ identities, small-town working-class communities in China and immigrant and ethnic minorities in the US. Following the Fireside Chat, Out & Equal previewed our upcoming resource on trans and nonbinary inclusion and attendees broke out into interactive small groups to workshop how to navigate realistic workplace scenarios. The Forum gave attendees tangible action items and ideas to implement in their own workplaces.
The China Forum presentation can be downloaded here. Stay tuned for our trans and nonbinary workplace inclusion resource coming soon that takes into account the shared ideas and perspectives from our interactive breakout sessions.
Out & Equal will continue to work with our partners in China and throughout the APAC region to build resources, share best practices, and plan our next event!
