The 2021 Out & Equal India Quarter 1 Forum – in partnership with our India Business Inclusion Council – brought together LGBTQI+ and ally professionals from Indian and multinational companies on March 16. The event focused on transgender and nonbinary inclusion in the workplace and how companies in India can continue to create cultures of inclusion and belonging.
The forum began with opening remarks from Out & Equal and an inspiring keynote from Vihaan Peethambar – Expert Member of the National Council for Transgender Persons and D&I Associate at Goldman Sachs. Vihaan talked about navigating his own coming out, the importance of creating cultures of belonging in the workplace, and best practices for workplace inclusion. Following the keynote address, Out & Equal’s Deena Fidas previewed our upcoming resource on trans and nonbinary inclusion and attendees broke out into interactive small groups to workshop realistic workplace scenarios. The forum gave attendees tangible action items and ideas to implement in their own workplaces.
The India Forum presentation can be downloaded here. We look forward to releasing a new trans and nonbinary workplace inclusion resource that takes into account the shared ideas and perspectives from the forum’s interactive breakout sessions.
