About Leadership Forum Tracks

One of the challenges of attending Leadership Forum is that the learning tracks all look so interesting that deciding which is best for you can be a challenge. Here’s some help to assist in your 2025 Leadership Forum decision-making.

All tracks contain content that fuels leadership growth through:

  • Building self-awareness in one’s journey: Analyzing personal and professional career shapers, identifying what impacts individual efficacy, and developing individualized skills for change;
  • Developing hard skills in communication, persuasion, and people leadership;
  • Delivering usable, contemporary knowledge and data on the most pressing LGBTQ+ workforce inclusion challenges and opportunities; and
  • Utilizing intersectional analysis as a strategic framework for impact.

Additionally, all attendees have access to our mainstage and plenary events and conversations that address the most impactful and consequential issues of the moment.

How to pick a track:

Strategies for Supercharging ERG Impact:
The life of an ERG leader or contributor is complicated. Advocates are expected to have cross-functional skills that enable them to advise senior leaders, develop programs that engage and educate the workforce, provide support to individuals and the organization on LGBTQ+ issues, navigate policy, and…the list goes on. This track is designed to bring ERG leaders at all levels together to understand the new landscape for this work, focusing on the array of responsibilities (and skills required for effectiveness) that changemakers in these functions require.

Driving Change Within: Effectively Navigating Policy Work in Organizations
The idea that politics have no place in the workforce is long gone. The past few years have demonstrated the very real role and impact that public policy has on the workplace for LGBTQ+ employees. The path for navigating public policy in the workplace, however, isn’t always clear and is a departure from political organizing in communities. This track is designed for leaders in ERGs and organizations that have a role in shaping policy as well as how organizations respond to external pressure on policy issues.

Cultivating You Queer (and Super Ally) Power:
No matter what role leaders have inside their organizations in the effort to build belonging for all, staying centered in purpose, having skills to foster individual and group leadership development, and the power to be an effective communicator are essential. Yet many leaders invest  significant time in developing these skills for others, not themselves. This track is designed for workplace advocates looking to strengthen their individual leadership skills as well as empower others to do the same. Whether you are an ERG leader, executive champion, or individual contributor, this track will provide unique ways to develop the skills to ensure that your work is powerful and sustainable.

Shattering the Lavender Ceiling: Developing Trans and Nonbinary Leaders
While the term “LGBTQ+ issues” is an inclusive way to address a host of topics relevant to LGBTQ+ people, the reality is that how these issues are experienced in different parts of the community can be incredibly diverse. For transgender and nonbinary leaders at all levels, having access to a community space populated by others with like identities creates the environment for honest, meaningful conversations and learning experiences that unlock insights that can fuel individual development. This track is designed for participants who identify as transgender and nonbinary (inclusive of all gender-expansive identities) at all levels who seek focused peer learning experiences and networking opportunities.

Still need direction? Here are our suggestions

We rarely use this term in a positive way, but here it is: Divide and conquer! Many participants of the Leadership Forum attend with others from their organization. While there is comfort in numbers, a great strategy for covering more learning ground and doing more expansive networking and connection is to split up across the learning tracks.

Still torn about which track is best for you? Out & Equal’s Learning & Development team is here to help. Send questions to learning@outandequal.org and we’ll assist you in picking the best option to meet your goals.
