Allies at Work: New Out & Equal published book to be unveiled at the 2009 Summit
Out & Equal Workplace Advocates has worked with author Dr. David M. Hall to publish the book, "Allies at Work: Creating a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Inclusive Work Environment." "Allies at Work" will officially be unveiled during the 2009 Out & Equal Workplace Summit, where Hall will moderate a Featured Panel about the importance of allies and also be available to sign books. The book, which can be pre-ordered online , is the first full-length work Out & Equal has published and details the importance of allies in shaping workplace climates as well as developing a strong ally program at work. In "Allies at Work," Hall provides the framework for teaching what he calls "cultural competency" - the creation of social environments in which everyone is treated equally by their peers. Throughout the book, Hall, a workplace productivity consultant, uses the personal struggles and daily challenges of LGBT people to underscore the need for straight allies to actively work toward creating equality in the workplace.

News: United ENDA call to action
We are in a crucial time for passing the Employment Non-Discrimination Act this year.
ENDA would ban employment discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity and represent important progress in achieving out and equal workplaces across the entire country.
Congress is back in session and it is as important as ever to reach out to your Senators and Representatives and encourage their support for a fully inclusive ENDA now. Please consider making those calls and sending letters in support today.
Out & Equal is a member of the United ENDA Steering Committee.

March on Washington
What will be the first thing that you do after experiencing the 2009 Out & Equal Workplace Summit from October 6-9?

The National Equality March is an important event to show support for full equality on the door step of those who can make that happen: the Congress of the United States.
Out & Equal has endorsed the National Equality March. |
