DON'T WAIT! | Emmy Award-winning journalist joins Summit speaker lineupAward-winning broadcast journalist John Quiñones [15], co-anchor of ABC newsmagazine “Primetime,” will be among the impressive list of speakers highlighting the 2009 Out & Equal Workplace Summit, the world's premier conference on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender workplace equality. The Emmy Award winner will deliver his speech during the Summit's Closing Plenary on October 9, which will also feature a speech and a question and answer discussion with John Berry, the highest-ranking LGBT person in President Barack Obama's administration. Quiñones has reported extensively for ABC News over the last 25 years with the network, predominantly serving as a correspondent for “Primetime” and “20/20.” He has won seven national Emmy Awards for his “Primetime Live,” “Burning Questions” and “20/20” work. He is one of the highly-accomplished leaders—including Sharon L. Allen [16], chair of Deloitte, and Kevin Brockman [17], executive vice president of global communications for Disney-ABC Television Group—helping shape this year's Summit into the best yet. Well-known author Kenji Yoshino [18] also has joined the list of speakers. The author of the award-winning book, “Covering: The Hidden Assault of Our Civil Rights,” will speak during the Opening Plenary on October 7. He is the inaugural Chief Justice Earl Warren Professor of Constitutional Law at New York University School of Law. He attended Harvard College, Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar and Yale Law School. From 1998 to 2008, he taught at Yale Law School, serving both as a vice dean and as the inaugural Guido Calabresi Professor of Law. His main fields of research are constitutional law, antidiscrimination law, and law and literature. His academic research is now focused on the topic of corporate diversity—including LGBT—and he has spoken on this issue at a wide range of organizations, including AOL, Dupont and Sodexo.
