Out & Equal Workplace Advocates is the pre-eminent non-profit organization dedicated to winning global workplace equality for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.

Out & Equal is seeking to hire a Development Manager to oversee and execute new corporate sponsorship efforts while maintaining a portfolio of existing corporate partnerships. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Engagement, the Development Manager will cultivate new corporate sponsors for our annual events; including the Workplace Summit, Executive Forum, Momentum and others.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, promote and execute new corporate sponsors to help support year-round programming and attain development goals
  • Identify new corporate Fortune 500 partners, providing frequent opportunities for engagement, recognition, and stewardship
  • Develop proposals and deliver presentations in person, via email, phone or online grant applications
  • Negotiate, develop, and execute contracts with corporate partners
  • Assume overall relationship management responsibility for new partners (day-to-day management of accounts)
  • Execute corporate recognition and benefits tied to sponsor commitments including activation, agreements, signage, online and offline communication channels, and collateral materials
  • Work with Communications, Events and other departments in cultivating corporate partners
  • Interact with Out & Equal board members and senior leaders in cultivating corporate partners
  • Provide account briefings and reporting on corporate development activity on a regular basis
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Out & Equal and the mission of the organization
  • Demonstrate proficiency with data processing, CRM and MS Office applications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Experience in cultivating, soliciting, and stewardship strategies and techniques related to corporate sponsorship
  • Demonstrated ability in proposal-writing for business case development
  • Demonstrated knowledge of methods, practices, and procedures for gathering corporate funding program information
  • Strong experience in relationship management/project management as it pertains to fund development
  • Knowledge of, comfort with, and commitment to creating fair and equitable workplaces for LGBT people
  • Self-motivated and disciplined to regularly set and achieve work goal
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and networking skills with large groups as well as with individuals
  • Ability to maintain a high level of poise and professionalism in all circumstances
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2-5 years managing philanthropic and corporate relationships
  • Education: BA or BS degree
  • Experience with or understanding of corporate workplaces and cultures
  • Candidates with development or non-profit management experience are preferred
  • Advanced relationship management communication skills, demonstrated ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task
  • Knowledge of the LGBT movement and LGBT community preferred, but not required
  • Thorough understanding of donor management and the ability to manage relationships with internal staff, as well as sponsor contacts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records and reports, work effectively under pressure and establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with co-workers
  • Skilled at developing project metrics and deliverables and working with program teams to monitor partnership progress.
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM desirable.
  • Personable positive attitude, strong work ethic, team player and sense of humor.
