Major General Tammy Smith is a career Army Officer currently assigned as Deputy Chief of Staff, United States Army Reserve, responsible for synchronizing strategic planning and resourcing for a world-wide, 205K military force. She has 28 years military experience. Her significant senior leader assignments include Director, Army Reserve Human Capital Enterprise; Director, Senior Leader Development Office; Chief, General Officer Management Office; and Director, Army Reserve Affairs, US Forces-Afghanistan. Tammy serves on the Deloitte External Inclusion Advisory Council. Her education includes a Masters in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College and a Doctorate in Management and Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix. Major General Smith is the first openly gay General/Flag Officer in the US military. She is married to Tracey Hepner-Smith and resides in Virginia.
