Train the Trainer

Train the Trainer for LGBT Diversity Leadership is designed to break down barriers and fosters communication between all employees.

It helps get the most out of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) employees and their coworkers by fostering alliances between LGBT and straight employees by opening up communication and creating comfortable atmosphere to work in

The live training is broken up into two parts, which are presented on the same day:

  • The LGBT Diversity Leadership Class is a presentation of the actual 90 minute course that may be provided by those who have completed Train the Trainer.  This is a demonstration for those enrolled in Train the Trainer, but it is also great for building individual understanding and evaluating this training for use at your company
  • Train the Trainer is an all day workshop that includes the LGBT Diversity Leadership course, concepts, terminology, and the business case regarding LGBT employees. Information about Out & Equal's mission, training, and how to tell your own story to support the learning objectives will also be covered.

The online training is divided into three webinars, which are presented on different days:

  • Part one covers an introduction to being an Out & Equal trainer, the history, mission, scope of Out & Equal and review the LGBT Diversity Leadership slide deck
  • Part two develops your skills as a trainer and ability to discuss and present LGBT diversity leadership materials
  • Part three is an interactive webinar that deals with how to answer questions that come up about LGBT Diversity Leadership materials, current events update and certification and reporting processes

By the end of Train the Trainer, participants will be certified for a period of two years from course completion to teach the LGBT Diversity Leadership Class in their workplace. Graduates will receive course materials, which include an editable slide deck and an invitation to join the online Trainer's Network for continued support after the course. Many trainers volunteer and are selected to assist Out & Equal training staff to present other Out & Equal courses at other locations.
